Default Desparate! Machine crashed Zimbra won't restart

I am running Zimbra on a Mac. Everything has been great. But the machine unexpectantly shutdown. now Zimbra won't restart. I type in zmcontrol start, it returns my hostname then command prompt. no starting anything. So a while ago I had a problem, and i found that if i reinstalled, it fixed the problem. This is what I'm getting when that happens.

Setting defaults from ldap...ERROR: service.FAILURE (system failure: getDirectContext) (cause: javax.naming.CommunicationException mail.brajkovic.com:389)
ERROR: service.FAILURE (system failure: getDirectContext) (cause: javax.naming.CommunicationException mail.brajkovic.com:389)

Can anyone please help me?

So, you are attempting to reinstall?
Did you run the installer or the zmsetup.pl script?
Did you make a backup?

The error is that the system can't communicate with LDAP.
Can you verify that ldap is started?
su - zimbra
ldap status

If it's not starting, let see why
su - zimbra
sh -x ldap start
