No, I'd rather not have the whole list thanks.

You've managed to install the server on localhost (127.0.0.1) that won't work and also why you have problems. You need a domain name (even just an internal one) to install Zimbra, you'll also need a local DNS server install and valid DNS A & MX records. I assume you don't have any of those?

i do have a domain name with dns and mx records. i followed the install all the way through doing just as it asked.

i am glad you get a chuckle out of this,

    my domain name is 3rct.org,

Where did i go wrong on the install?

No, I don't get a chuckle out of this - I just didn't want the whole list.

We'll start with the usual questions, do the following:

    cat /etc/hosts
    host `hostname`
    dig 3rct.org any

Do you have a local DNS server and are you behind a NAT router? If the answer to NAT is yes then you'll probably need a split DNS set-up, have a look in the wiki for details.
    Regards

No, still no chuckle but it is easy to miss those things. I thought that postfix was the default mailserver in a RHEL install but I guess not.

RHEL and Fedora have this annoying habit of insisting on installing a MTA no matter how many times you opt for them not to.

Choose not to install Sendmail it gets installed anyway. Remove sendmail and Exim gets put in its place. Only finally after removing that is the system MTA free for you to run the Postfix engine for Zimbra. Sheesh!!
