Default Altermime and Multiple Disclaimer Attachments

I'm using the altermime hack contained within the wiki to append a disclaimer to my emails.

It's working okay, but whenever I reply to a message that I previously sent, it inserts another disclaimer.

After a few responses back and forth, this can add quite a bit to the message thread.

Does anyone know how to check for the presence of a disclaimer, and if found, not append another one?

I was thinking of enclosing my disclaimer within a header and footer string of characters (e.g., *-*-*-*-*) and if they're found, not append a new disclaimer.

Any ideas on how or if this might be doable?

Why don't you just disable the option? I think there may also be a method of doing that somewhere in the forums if you search.
