Default Alias Problems

Hello all,

I have a strange issue with alias. I've created an alias, and I cannot delete it from the GUI. I've tried to delete it from the CLI and no way, it's still here.

It was an alias for a distributed list that I remove… So if you remove an account or a distributed list, why aliases don't follow? Is this a bug?

Anyone had resolved this problem?

Thanks

Default Alias problems

I have had trouble deleting list aliases from the GUI as well. I think they can really only be maintained via the command line.

It probably is a bug that list aliases aren't removed when a list is. (Though it's probably worth making sure that the problem is reproducible before opening a bugzilla entry.) I'd also like to see the name of the list that the alias is associated with when I mouse-over it.

Default Alias+Documents same issue :(

Another one

I think it may be related to the problem with aliases, but, if you delete the domain account that is used for documents, you cannot re-create it!!

There is something realy weird with GUI and LDAP I think

Is there somewhere a good and easy documentation to search and create/remove entries on LDAP without instaling another software, just by issuing commands localy on the server itself?

Default Use zmprov

The provisioning command zmprov will probably do what you need -- though if there is an actual bug causing a database consistency problem then all bets are off.

As the zimbra user, type
zmprov help
and it tells you how to find out more about each class of subcommand available:

Quote:
zmprov is used for provisioning. Try:

zmprov help account help on account-related commands
zmprov help calendar help on calendar resource-related commands
zmprov help commands help on all commands
zmprov help config help on config-related commands
zmprov help cos help on COS-related commands
zmprov help domain help on domain-related commands
zmprov help list help on distribution list-related commands
zmprov help misc help on misc commands
zmprov help notebook help on notebook-related commands
zmprov help search help on search-related commands
zmprov help server help on server-related commands
You probably want the account subcommands, which allow you to add/remove accounts and aliases. But look around; there's good stuff here.

Hello and thanks PhilF for those commands…

As for our problem with aliases anyone?

Is there any LDAP Guru who can provide an easy way to solve this issue with aliases? I need to remove a stucked alias in the GUI (created for a distribution list that I removed)…

It will be great to have a simple way to view and manage data stored in the LDAP directory without a lot of knowledge or a tier app

So did you look in LDAP like it suggested in the thread I posted? You should be able to delete it from there.

Yes… I know that my problem with aliases is relative to LDAP structure…But I don't know how to do that easily… I can't find any step by step documentation or a list of common arguments to manage specificaly Zimbra's LDAP

The only things I know are the names of the aliases to be removed…
