    Default Relay Access Denied

    All:

I have installed the latest version on Zimbra 4.5.3 OS ( zcs-4.5.3_GA_733.SuSE10.tgz) on a SUSE Linux 10.2 server according to the instructions I found in the Forums.

All is working well and I can receive mail and access it from the Web interface as well as through Outlook 2003. I can send and reply to emails through the web interface but not through Outlook. I receive this message in outlook: The following recipient(s) could not be reached:

    'XXXXXXX@gmail.com' on 3/14/2007 4:29 AM
    554 <XXXXXXX@gmail.com>: Relay access denied

I tried setting the relay to localhost but was not able to send emails through the web client.

Does anyone have an idea how to configure zcs so I can send mail throgh the web client and outlook?

    Thanks

Sorry to bother you all. I figured it out. I disabled "TLS Authentication Only". Once I did this the server asked me for a password and allowed me to send out messages through Outlook.

    Cheers

An unexpected response was received from the mail server. Make sure that you have entered the correct value in setup for your SMTP port.

and your outgoing smtp port settings are?

from the box with outlook on it try:
    telnet zimbraserver.domain.com 25
    what is the response?

for the heck of it disable authentication

outlook version? - so we can lookup all settings available
    and all settings you tried?

this is an old issue, but I am having the same problem. I just installed the newest version of Zimbra and can send just fine from the webmail client to anyone, but through outlook or my iPhone, it does not let me send. Gives me relay access is denied.

I authenticate and everything and all the proper networks are in MTA authorized IPs "127.0.0.0/8 and 10.10.10.0/24

any updated light on this would be great.

I can send to any user within my domain from an outside email client like my iPhone or Outlook. Webmail works perfectly fine to send to anyone.

What I don't understand is the fact that I authenticate which should allow me to just send email?
