Default External ldap

Hello,

I'm using the internal ldap server for zimbra accounts.

We are in the process to setup another ldap server that will manage samba, mod_auth, etc.

I would like to make zimbra use that server so i have a couple of questions:

1) I already have some users on zimbra's ldap server. If i change the ldap settings to point to the new server should i need to recreate those users?

2) If i'm no longer using zimbra's ldap, can i remove the ldap package from that server?

Thanks,
Fernando

Using an "external" LDAP server (package not provided by Zimba) is not supported and does not seem to be a good idea.

You could keep your existing Zimbra's LDAP but use the external LDAP for auth only (Zimbra will check user/password in the external LDAP on login).

Alternatively, you can manage everything through Zimbra LDAP and Zimbra Admin UI:

take a look at this wiki article: http://wiki.zimbra.com/index.php?tit...imbra_Admin_UI

and this blog post: http://www.zimbra.com/blog/archives/..._admin_ui.html
