    Default Hosting a website with nginx(zmproxy) next to zimbra on the same server

    Hello Friends,

    I want to add a virtualhost to the nginx configuration (should be just the main domain name on port 80, as kind of a redirection page with choices)

    The configuration structure of /opt/zimbra/conf/nginx is confusing to me and I don't see any place where I can put a server block for my virtualhost.
    I found this block in /opt/zimbra/conf/nginx/includes/nginx.conf.web.http.default:

    # For Virtual Hosting
    set $virtual_host $http_host;
    if ($virtual_host = '') {
    set $virtual_host $server_addr:$server_port;
    }
    proxy_set_header Host $virtual_host;

    May I use this anyhow to get my site implemented?

    Can somebody help me to figure that out please?
    I thank you so much :-)

    No, you shouldn't do that. ZCS is meant to be the only products running on your server and certainly there should be no changes such as this to the configuration, if you make any changes to the configuration you are likely to lose those changes during any upgrade.

    Hi phoenix,

    thanks for your fast response. I understand (and supposed it to be not designed to host additional vhosts), although I'm curious about what this "For Virtual Hosting" block means...

    If I'd try/want this nevertheless - is port 80 already in use in some kind like ActiveSync or similar? (althoug netstat shows no persistent listening socket on port 80).

    There is a wiki site, telling how to host additional sites with zimbra: Hosting other sites with Zimbra - Zimbra :: Wiki
    (and I don't need non-SSL. The thing is, I actually want this with nginx since it performs better).
    Can't this wiki page / instruction be "translated" to implement that with nginx ?
    I would have no problem to setup a second nginx before zmproxy ...

    thanks again!
