Default LDAPsearch on an LDAP backup?

We were looking into doing some searches for inactive accounts, however, at the same time, we were working on gathering statistics for some mail migration and this in a sense updated all the last login times.

So I have the LDAP backups, and was trying to figure out a way to do ldapsearches on a backup. Any ideas other than scripting something together?

We have a dev environment - I wonder if I could simply restore the LDAP backup to it while everything else is down, do my searches, and then restore the original dev environment LDAP?

    Suggestions welcomed...

    Default

You could use the Perl Net::LDAP::LDIF module to execute ldap "searches" against the backup files
