mailbox mysql error after O/S updates

I ran Ubuntu updates this morning, mysql got updated along with php.

Now zimbra mailbox will not run.

I'm including some of the error information from mailbox.log Even though this looks like a java error I believe it to really be a mysql problem. Please correct me if i'm wrong.

That's a connection error when the server tries to connect to MySQL. Is MySQL running?

Are you using a firewall?

Try this:
telnet localhost 3306
telnet [your server's public ip] 3306

Do either of these return anything?

Nope, no firewall loaded. The last part of the post was cut off but I did try to telnet to it and this is what I got..
