    Default postfix configuration [solved]

    Hello,

I need to address the issue of having zimbra accounts named like 'uid@domain' associated to mail addresses like givenName.lastname@domain.

I've built an alias file from our global ldap server with entries like this :
    givenName.lastname: uid

I've tried to change the postfix parameter 'alias_maps' but it does not seem to be the right place for this. I wondered if I could get it working by changing "virtual_alias_maps".

I've read the change should be done upon /opt/zimbra/conf/zmmta.cf but what should the change consist of ?

Right now, there is this in /opt/zimbra/conf/zmmta.cf:
    Code:
    POSTCONF virtual_alias_maps LOCAL postfix_virtual_alias_maps
I need to get this as a final result in postfix/conf/main.cf :

    Code:
    virtual_alias_maps = ldap:/opt/zimbra/conf/ldap-vam.cf ,
                                       hash:/etc/ldap.aliases
Does anyone have an idea to help me on this ?

    Thanks in advance,

    Artturi

Seems my idea was not the good one.

I've modified /opt/zimbra/conf/zmmta.cf in an ugly way that works :

    Code:
    POSTCONF virtual_alias_maps hash:/etc/aliases,ldap:/opt/zimbra/conf/ldap-vam.cf
I've added a test line in /etc/aliases for my account but my mails to givenname.lastname@zimbradomain gets rejectedReason : Recipient address rejected

Does someone see a solution ?

    Regards,

    Artturi

I thought te problem was /etc/aliases only contains local aliases so I used a virtual table /etc/virtualaliases instead.

    This file only contains :
    Code:
    mygivenname.mylastname@zimbradomain my_uid
I restart postfix with zmmtactl stop & zmmtactl start but when I try to send a mail to mygivenname.mylastname@zimbradomain, I get :

Feb 21 11:44:48 zimbra postfix/smtpd[6740]: fatal: open database /etc/virtualaliases.db: Invalid argument

I may have missed something but I think I have correctly followed postfix's syntax for this file. Any idea ?

Edit : This was due to not using zimbra's postmap executable.
Dong the following resolved it :
    Code:
    /opt/zimbra/postfix-2.2.9/sbin/postmap /etc/virtualaliases

Finally, I got what I wanted by modifying the virtual_alias_maps parameter in zmmta.cf in order to obtain this in main.cf :

    Code:
    virtual_alias_maps = hash:/etc/virtualaliases,ldap:/opt/zimbra/conf/ldap-vam.cf
I'm just not very confident that I've use the best approach to modify zmmta.cf. If anyone has a better way, I'm interested.

I don't really understand why you've done that through postfix when you can give your users any alias you like via zmprov. Perhaps I'm missing something? What is it you're trying to achieve?

I didn't like the fact that these aliases showed up when a search was done. You got each account twice in the result list (one for uid, the orther for the alias).

That's true but, IIRC, the ability to hide account alias in a gal search was fixed in 4.5.1
