Default MTA Trusted Networks - broken?

    Hi All,

The admin console for setting the "MTA Trusted Networks" seems to not work in 4.5.1. Is this a known bug? I tried several different syntax's to set it - but the interface would only accept a string like "192.168.1.010.10.0.0" which obviously broke postfix. There is a method to set this with zmprov that is documented in the wiki - which worked for me - but a heads up to anyone trying to use the admin console.

    Default May be worse still

    Hi

I have a zimbra server and I wanted to allow anther Zimbra server on a separate subnet route mail through it.

I set the trusted subnet to be 213.222.222 assumning that leaving the last bit blank would allow all on subnet.

Then what happed it it would not accept from the sunbet or send mail from the zimbra client.

I think I should have put 213.222.222.0 in the trusted networks section.

Anyway I will try and fix this one, but if anyone has any ideas

It was a known issue and fixed in 4.5.2

Leaving the 'last bit blank' doesn't allow anything as it's an invalid entry. If you want to allow a subnet then you need x.x.x.0/24 in the Trusted Networks. I would suggest that if you just want another mail server to relay through yours then you would need x.x.x.x/8 (obviously with the correct IP) and not really allow the whole subnet to relay (unless you actually want that).
    Regards
