Default How to override SpamAssassin scores

I didn't think it was possible, but with the latest Zimbra update, spam filtering has gotten even worse.

I would like to override some of the scores for SpamAssassin, but for some reason, my override is not taking effect.

For example, I want to give URIBL_DBL_SPAM more weight. The score is defined in 50_scores.cf. I first tried local.cf, but that didn't do anything, so then I added it to 72_scores.cf, which I assume gets parsed AFTER 50_scores.cf, but it is still not being overridden. Can someone tell me the proper place to override scores?

However, it did not work for me. I created a file called z_custom.cf in the /opt/zimbra/conf/sa directory with my rules and it did not read it. I did get things working by modifying /opt/zimbra/conf/salocal.cf.in, which then wrote my changes to /opt/zimbra/conf/sa/salocal.cf upon restart. The only problem with this is my changes will get overwritten every time I upgrade.

You fail to state which ZCS release you are running. I would also note nothing in the wiki says to create a z_custom.cf file. It clearly states what file name should be used, and why.

My version string is in my profile, I thought it used to show that on posts. Regardless, it is Release 8.0.6.GA.5922.UBUNTU10.64 DEBIAN6_64 FOSS edition.

    The wiki says that:

For ZCS 8 and later, SpamAssassin scans for all *.cf files in /opt/zimbra/conf/sa and loads them in alphabetical order.
I took that to mean literally what it says. Are you saying this sentence is incorrect?

    The next line specifically says:
If you create a sausers.cf file, it will be loaded after salocal.cf is loaded.

I know this works, because we use a sausers.cf file ourselves. This can also be verified by increasing the log level which will show the load order.

I realize that, I assumed that was an example. Does it or does it not read ALL of the .cf files?

It loads all *.cf files. How did you determine that it is not loading yours? I know it is working for us as expected with ZCS8, and you can up the loglevel to confirm that as well.

That's what I was trying to confirm. Quanah's previous post implied that creating a file called z_custom.cf would not work.

I would also note nothing in the wiki says to create a z_custom.cf file. It clearly states what file name should be used, and why.

After adding my file and restarting, I was still getting messages with the same scoring values as before, so my overrides were not working. I will up the loglevel and see if I can discover why. Thank you for the advice.
