Default FixedIP and logging onto the console

    Two queries team....

    1) Can my Zimbra install under Ubuntu have a fixed IP - it is a real pain when a reboot takes a new IP from DHCP and I have to change NAT mapping etc

    2) please remind me - local log in for the console is current IP xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx/7071 ?

A happy and prosperous 2014 to you all!

It should have a fixed IP and valid DNS A & MX records plus a correct /etc/hosts file that point to that fixed IP.

Yes but you should be able to resolve that address via the url for that server.

Thanks - I was mucking up the syntax - once I'd gotten the correct IP address from the vsphere client <https://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx/7071> got me there

Yes and the Split DNS wiki article has the correct format for that file.
