Some idea of what you call a 'lot of cpu cycles' would help. Which process is consuming these cycles?

A mail user should be restricted from using a Distribution list .

I have searched in the options available in the GUI . Is there any way to do it ?

There's currently no method of doing that, there's an entry in bugzilla search for it and vote on it.

On 4.0.5 NE I've seen convertd eating up as much as 200% of the CPU (as shown by top) on a dual Core 2 Duo box with 6GB RAM. We only have about 140 users.

Maybe that's the problem?

We are currently investigating an issue with High CPU usage and IMAP.
It's in the investigation/research stages, so I don't have any more info.

Does anyone on this thread have IMAP users?

http://bugzilla.zimbra.com/show_bug.cgi?id=14160

EDIT: The above bug only applies to 4.5

Sorry for the confusion.

We do. Tho I'm not sure what the percentage of IMAP users is out of our 140 users. The server is a RHEL4 box and most IMAP users would be Thunderbird
