Default Upgrade 3.0 GA to Latest release

I was recently hired by a new company and noticed that they are running a very old version of Zimbra 3.0 GA. I was wondering if I could do a upgrade straight from 3.0 to 4.5.1 (or latest) or if i would need to do a incremental upgrade (i.e. 3.0 -> 3.1 -> 4.0 .....)

This thread (Upgrading from 3.0 to 4.5) asks the same question. It sounds like it was possible to do a straight upgrade.

sorry I must have missed that post. I scanned the first 2 pages but didn't see it. I didn't bother doing a search because i figured it would return 1000 answers.

You should be okay to upgrade.
1) Make sure you have a backup
2) The client's cache's will need to be cleared.

Good luck, and let us know how it goe!

I guess i'm not familiar with what you mean by that.

Is that on the server or on the client app that you are talking about.

The internet temporary files need to be cleared on the client machines, not the server

Default Upgrade from 3.0.0 to latest release failed.

I tried upgrading from 3.0.0_M4_36 to 4.5.1_GA_660 and got the following message:

Quote:
I can't upgrade version 3.0.0_M4
Of course it told me this AFTER it had gone through most of the installation steps, necessitating a long and painful restore, reinstall, and restore again.

Here is the complete log:
