Default Allow SMTP relay for specific recipient e-mail addresses

    Good day,

Our Zimbra server is currently set up to only allow SMTP relaying for authenticated senders. I would like to set up Zimbra to allow SMTP relaying to certain specified email addresses (user@host.com) from senders that are not authenticated.

Can anyone tell me what the best way would be to accomplish this?

You really don't want to do that it's a massive security hole, if those users get compromised your server can act as an open relay for those users. All users mail submissions should be via Port 587 and authenticated.

    Hi Phoenix,

Thanks for the reply! Not sure if you understood correctly though?

The criteria for allowing relay without authentication is destination address, not source address. As an example, I would like my Zimbra server to relay mail from anyone to someguy@vmware.com and only to someguy@vmware.com without authentication. Mail submitted for any other address will not be relayed without authentication. The server will therefor only be an "open" relay for this one specific destination address and no other. This would pose a near zero risk of being exploited for bad intent. An attacker would somehow have to figure out which destination address is exempted and then he would only be able to relay to that single address anyway.
