Default admin password using extarnal Active Directory

    Hello guys.

I'm helping a few days in a company which uses zimbra as internal mail and I'm new on it.

We need to change de admin account password. I use the admin user to enter in the admin console but I can't change the password because It says It's using external authentication and the button is disabled.
In the configuration I can see It's using Active Directory because are two IP address pointing to the AD servers.

The problem is I can't find the user "admin" in the Active Directory to change the password.
This should be the user created during the installation.
Where is stored? How can I change this password?

    Thank you in advance.

I think having the admin in the main "production" domain is not a good idea.

You can/should create an "administration only" domain (the FQDN of the server for example) then create an admin account in it (using zmprov, search the forum/docs/wiki to learn how to do it).
Then you'll be able to log in the web admin UI using this new account and fix/remove your current admin account.

    Thank you Klug

At this moment I don't want to change anything but the admin password because I don't want to change more than the customer ask me and I don't want to brack anything.

I don't really know where is the admin user stored, that's my question. I can't find it in the Active Directory but I can't neither change the password in the admin UI.
Is the admin user stored in the internal LDAP?

    Thank you for all.

You were right. I changed the admin password just with the zmprov command with no problem
