Default Using Outlook within other programs

I'm using Outlook with Zimbra, and several users have complained that they are unable to use the mail functions built into other programs such as Office or Adobe Reader.

Obviously the users can still go into Outlook and manually attach files fine, but it's just a preference some users have to use this feature.

Is this a known issue with Zimbra or is there a fix that I'm not thinking of?

When this happens Outlook is not open, nor the web-client window and Outlook works fine before and after this is tried.

    Thanks for any help

I suppose I forgot some stuff from my last post.

We're using the latest version of the Zimbra connector 4.5.0 and Office 2003 products, although they aren't the only programs with the option of emailing within the program, just the most commonly used by our users.

    Thanks again for any help!

    Hi Canmike,

There are so many possibilities on what this could be. I'm going to forward this issue to to see if one of the developers can/know about this.

    Thanks

    Hi Canmike,

I just tried it, as we are running the same versions (ZCO 4.5, Office 2003) and it works for me, so I think it is not a ZImbra problem.

Have you tried it using another Outlook profile with an IMAP server?

Is Outlook set as your default mail application? Check it on Control Panel/Add/Remove Programs/Set Program Access and Defaults and then choose 'Default Mail Program' - see what it's set to.

I forgot to add that you can set Outlook as the default mail client in the Tools/Other tab of Outlook.

    Thanks for all the help!

Outlook 2003 isn't an option in the list of default mail programs, but Outlook Express is and it's not even installed.

It seems to send the messages even though the error pops up, so I'm really not sure about this. I think I need to do a bit more testing on this before we go getting the developers involved

    Thanks again

    well....Upgraded to the newer connector(4.5.169)

This still happens unfortunately. I submitted a bug ticket, but I am awaiting a response. I'm just wondering if anyone here has any luck with this working.

    Thanks for any help.
