Default LDAP External and Active Directory!!!

Hi, All
I know that Zimbra has the suppport for authentication with LDAP External
or Active Directory. But I have a problem: If users want to change their
password or administrators want to add a new users, how to solve this
problem? (Does Network Edition support for this problem? )
I'm testing with ZCS (Open Source Edition).
I want to know: How many users does Open Source Edition support?
Thanks!
Best regards,

About "password change" : as long as you are using external auth (to LDAP or AD or anything else), the password has to be changed in the external auth. For AD precisely, it means changing your "Windows" password will change your Zimbra password at the same time.

About "adding new user" : there's no automagic provisionning of Zimbra against external auth. If you want it, code it 8)
It's the same in Network Edition.

Hardware/infrastructure is the limit.
There's not limit of users in OSS Edition (against Network Edition).

If you are using external auth to a LDAP server, yes, you'll have to.

Unless this LDAP server is also used for other usage (such as samba-ldap) and you already have apps allowing to change passwords within.

Can you tell us a bit more about this LDAP server ?

Default LDAP External and Active Directory!!!

Hi, all
At this present, My LDAP server is authenticating for some services: samba, ftp,
egroupware, qmai, radius.
can you give me more information about this zimlet? (com_zimbra_samba.zip).
I know that Zimbra uses apache Tomcat but com_zimbra_samba requires httpd
. Has it effects to Zimbra?
Thanks.

I wondered that when Zimbra Web Client connects to Zimbra server, what port does it connect to? what does it use mechanism to? has it the same mechanism as Squirrelmail to connect to IMAP server.

Here's a complete HOWTo integrate Zimbra LDAP with Samba and use Zimbra Admin UI to manage Posix and Windows accounts, groups and domains.

Greg,

In past threads regarding Zimbra's LDAP implementation and Samba, the Zimbra team stressed that it was a good idea to use an external LDAP directory, since there was no assurance that an update to Zimbra wouldn't muck up the schemas associated with the Samba accounts. Has this stance changed with the new admin extensions, or is it still something to worry about?

Just using threads like this for reference. If this does make it easier to implement a Zimbra/Samba solution, then I'm all for it, because it's something that I've been looking in to for a while now.
