    Default Mails sent from external network using outlook are getting blocked

    Hi

    We have a Zimbra mail server (version zcs-8.0.2) placed behind the firewall, and it is accessible through internet using Internet browsers or email clients.

    But when mail sent through any email clients it is giving the error below

    554 5.7.1 Service unavailable; Client host [59.96.216.215] blocked using zen.spamhaus.org;

    From web mail I am able to sent mails. I under stand that the 59.96.216.215 listed in Spamhaus's PBL list, which means if any mail sent using email clients from these IPs, SMPT needs authentication.

    The email client we use is outlook2007, to login to our server the outgoing SMTP server authentication should be not be enabled then only we can login to our mail server.

    Can anybody help me to solve this issue. I am beginner

    Regards
    Vivek

    You should upgrade to the most recent version.

    I had check with in local network also, for outlook 2003 client I am able to login to our server with or with out enabling outgoing SMTP server authentication, for outlook 2007 or above, if I enable outgoing SMTP server authentication, I am not able to login.

    I wish all my users to login to server with SMTP authentication even in local network or from external network
    In my GUI admin - Configure - Global setting - mta - Authentication is enabled.

    How are users connecting via Outlook? More specifically what SMTP port are they using, are they using SSL, TLS, or no encryption?

    I would recommend having your users connect via port 587 with TLS on, or 465 with SSL on. Unless something weird was done, both of those should be able to authenticate (and not be blocked by blacklists).

    That being said - I don't use blacklisting on the Zimbra box (we have a separate anti-spam appliance) but I do block all port 25 connections except from that anti-spam box and a few trusted servers in our environment.
