Lightbulb mailto

hi,
is it possible to set zimbra as the default e-mail system when a user clicks on
a mailto: link in a web page e.g. <ahref="mailto:support@zimbra.com">suport@zimbra.c om</a>

not outlook express

TIA,
PAdraig

Doesn't the Windows Toaster app let you do this? (for Windows users)

Yes, install the toaster (which is distributed with 4.5) and configure it to handle mailto links. Works especially well with the new 'light' html client.

Default Where?

Sam,

Where do I find the Toaster App? I now have 4.5 installed and running, but can't seem to see where I find the Toaster.

I didn't see the Toaster in the install either, but you can download the beta: Zimbra Toaster - Beta

Thumbs up update reg to change mailto

Update the registry as follows:
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\mailto\shell\open\command]
@="\"C:\\Program Files\\Internet Explorer\\iexplore.exe\" http://myserver/?app=mail&view=compose&to=%1"

where myserver is the zimbra server.

This could be saved in a mailto.reg text file as:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\mailto\shell\open\command]
@="\"C:\\Program Files\\Internet Explorer\\iexplore.exe\" http://myserver/?app=mail&view=compose&to=%1"

On login we could run regedit /s mailto.reg to update a users mail to web links.

Will this registry entry allow a user to e-mail via the ZWC from within Microsoft Office (e.g., File...Send to...Mail Recipient(As Attachment)?

I have the (quite) same question about general MAPI call.

Is it possible (through the toaster or stg else) to catch calls to MAPI functions used by other apps to send mails ?

I did a lot of testing with this recently and I can tell you that no, it doesn't work for MAPI links. Hotmail has the ability to do it, but they use an ActiveX control and I'm betting that Zimbra would have to create something similar in order for that to work.
