    Question "account aggregation" in 4.5?

I have heard tell of wondrous things, of tools for migrating and aggregating user accounts via POP (and IMAP?) coming to us in 4.5. I've searched and dug, but I can't find anything that actually describes this glorious bounty in more than one-sentence terms. Can someone point me to the wiki page or admin guide update that has so far eluded me?

    Many thanks!

    Mike

There isn't anything about that feature yest as 4.5 isn't released. What more do you need to know? You enter the mail server address that you want to get mail from, enter the login details and the folder you want the mail dumped in and voila! When you hit 'get mail' - there's your mail in a folder in your account.

Ah, I guess I figured that the feature docs would be locked down by RC2, and there'd be something to look at. I'm at least interested in knowing if users can migrate their own mail or if it requires admin assistance, how they select the folders they want to migrate _from_ if possible, and whether there's any duplicate mail detection.

Thanks for any info you can provide!

It's the choice of each user, it's in their options page. The feature just pulls mail from the specified account (no choice of folder except the folder it's delivered to) and you have the option to leave it on the server or delete it.

It's POP3, POP3 has no concept of 'folders' so you cannot select a folder to import from as non exist.

It requires no admin assistance (other than an admin enabling the feature on a users account) but it does require a slightly informed user to do it as they need to know their pop3 address, username and password - it's not hard, but the users that call support every monday to reset their passwords will struggle with it.
