Default Stripping Content from Original Message to Avoid Backscatter Abuse

    Hello all!

I am new to Zimbra administration because the old IT guy left and now I am doing my best to fill his shoes.
The were big shoes! So any and all help is appreciated.

As the title says, I am trying to configure Zimbra to remove the original message from 'bounced' emails that are sent to invalid addresses in our domain.

We want to do this because we have become a backscattering target. We're fine with returning a notice that the target address was not found, but we DON'T want to return the original body - lest it be some nasty spam, which would turn us into nasty backscatterers!

Here's a sample of the Zimbra log (/var/log/zimbra.log) for what happens when I send an email from my gmail account to an invalid account in our domain:

    Jun 14 12:57:54 mail postfix/smtpd[21436]: connect from[]
Jun 14 12:57:54 mail postfix/smtpd[21436]: setting up TLS connection from[]
Jun 14 12:57:54 mail postfix/smtpd[21436]: Anonymous TLS connection established from[]: TLSv1 with cipher RC4-SHA (128/128 bits)
    Jun 14 12:57:55 mail postfix/smtpd[21436]: NOQUEUE: reject: RCPT from[]: 550 5.1.1 <>: Recipient address rejected:; from=<myaddress/> to=<> proto=ESMTP helo=<>
    Jun 14 12:57:55 mail postfix/smtpd[21436]: disconnect from[]

Thank you SO much in advance. I'm very thankful for these forums because I'm utterly lost at the moment - fingers crossed!

    - Bob

+"backscatter +postfix - Yahoo! Search Results - search the forums and wiki for details on how reject all mail for non-existent recipients depending on your ZCS version (you've given no details of that).
