    Default Cannot increase zimbraMtaMaxMessageSize

    I've got Zimbra Version: 8.0.3_GA_5664.RHEL6_64_20130305090204 CentOS6_64 FOSS edition.

    I've tried following the instructions in the wiki, but nothing I do seems to increase the maximum message size.

    postconf message_size_limit
    message_size_limit = 10240000
    postconf | grep message_size_limit
    message_size_limit = 10240000
    zmprov modifyConfig zimbraMtaMaxMessageSize 20480000
    postfix reload
    postfix-script: refreshing the Postfix mail system
    postconf message_size_limit
    message_size_limit = 10240000

    I had this problem on the old Zimbra install 7.xx but I cannot for the life of me remember how I fixed it.

    It is definitely controlled via zimbraMtaMaxMessageSize:

    POSTCONF message_size_limit VAR zimbraMtaMaxMessageSize

    but zmconfigd would need to be running (no need to restart postfix)

    Quanah,

    I'm having the same issue. However, I don't see in your reply what the fix is? I do have zmconfigd running. Setting zimbraMtaMaxMessageSize does not alter postfix message_size_limit.

    Thanks.

    It's a bug sadly, not much can be done (Aside from attempting to change postfix settings manually, but not recommended)

    You'll also find your unable to alter using the Admin Control Panel setting as-well, it'll just reset to default the next time you load the control panel and go to the page. You'll probably have to wait until Zimbra fix it, it'll get fixed eventually, don't worry :-).

    I don't know

    I've not searched for it, but I'm sure there's one in there somewhere. .

    Seriously? I don't know of any such bug report for the current ZCS 8.0.5 version. I'd suggest a search of bugzilla and post the relevant bug number or file a bug report (with exact steps) if you can reproduce this problem on the current release.

    It works exactly as designed:

    Code:
    [zimbra@zre-ldap003 ~]$ zmprov gcf zimbraMtaMaxMessageSize
    zimbraMtaMaxMessageSize: 10240000

    [zimbra@zre-ldap003 ~]$ postconf message_size_limit
    message_size_limit = 10240000

    [zimbra@zre-ldap003 ~]$ zmprov mcf zimbraMtaMaxMessageSize 12340000

    Oct 17 10:58:42 zre-ldap003 zmconfigd[6097]: Var zimbraMtaMaxMessageSize changed from '10240000' -> '12340000'

    [zimbra@zre-ldap003 ~]$ postconf message_size_limit

    Odd.

    When I tried setting this the other day it would not work. I'll test it again either tomorrow or this weekend to see if I can find out why it wasn't working .

    MGSteve you must remember what the hell did you do to fix it!
    Lost 3 hours for that. Bug on CentOS?
    Code:
    zmprov mcf zimbraMtaMaxMessageSize 70000000
    zmcontrol restart
    postconf | grep message_size_limit
    message_size_limit = 10240000
