    Default Outlook and Zimbra IMAP Sync

    Hello,

    I have a problem with the sincronization between Outlook and Zimbra. When an e-mail is deleted from Outlook (configured with IMAP protocol) the space used for this e-mail doesn't unallocated in the mailbox space. To solve this trouble is necessary reindex the mailbox. Then the space is showed correctly. What can i do to solve this?? Thanks in advanced for everyone.

    This has been covered many times in the forums and the answer would be: it's because the IMAP protocol only marks a message for deletion, it does not actually delete it. If you want to remove the mail from the server then you should use the 'expunge' feature (or whatever Outlook calls it) to remove the mail.

    Thanks for your help Bill,

    but what we notice is when an e-mail is deleted from Outlook it disappears from webmail (Zimbra) either but the space isn't calculate correctly, just reindexing the mailbox the space is showed correctly. This is the main problem, the space of mailbox that exceed the cota.

    The point is that the message is marked for deletion but not deleted until an expunge is performed by the client (outlook in this case). I believe the feature is called 'Purge' in Outlook (I haven't used Outlook for a long time). - check those links and get your users to change their Outlook settings.
