Default Moving ZCS 8.02 from a Ubuntu 10.04 box to a Ubuntu 12.04 box

I tried copying /opt/zimbra to the other box without modifications... failed...

I have a backup taken every night of each user, but I'd like to move the entire system faster... and on top of that, my backup does not save the shared calendars... it's done with:
    /opt/zimbra/bin/zmmailbox -z -m username@domain.com getRestURL "//?fmt=tgz" > /backup/username`date +%y%m`.tgz

It works to restore... but I do not get everything... almost...

Any quick method for tranferring? Both systems are on a fast network... I tried to rcp the whole directory after installing a virgin ZCS 8.02 on the new Ubuntu 12.04 box... no luck...

Sorry for cross posting but I did not get any answer from the other forum...

Can I replace all the executables after copying the entire /opt/zimbra folder to the other computer?

What is the difference between ZCS 8 on Ubuntu 10.04 and Ubuntu 12.04? Is it only the compiled programs?

    Bmunger,

I have just replied to very similar thread as yours.

I have bad experience using zmmailbox restore in Zimbra 8.0.2. Small issue can spike java to 100% and bog down your server. Instead of what you trying to do, I would suggest:

Go to: FREE MIGRATION TOOL for moving Zimbra to Zimbra | ZeXtras Suite

And download their migration tool. It will work for you 100%, it's easy to use and 100x better than the script you used. And it's free!

I have done multiple migrations using their tools and I can only recommend them. An no, I don't work them.

If you need any more info about Zextras, just ask

    Oliver

    Hello,

The migration tool is free, but the restore into the new server, I think, is not free... right?

Does this work with network edition ?

If so how does it deal with the licence ? Will it copy it across or do I need to activate the new server before migration?
