    Default zimbra webmail as MTA

    Dear all ,

first of all iam very new to zimbra and i have no big experience in it , so please be patient with me , then i would like to appreciate your efforts and great work you all do ,

i have a very simple situation i'm going to explain it and if something isn't clear you can inquiry,

i have a domain related to my company , but w have email server (smtp, imap) there remotely & we have our webmail but it is very poor of features and utilities ,

i used the roundcube webmail as just MTA to enable user to login and fetch his mail from our external server and sending emails also through this external mail by configuring roundcube smtp's and imap's setting to the external setting ,

so can i do this in with zimbra webmail & if it is available in zimbra how to do ?

you answers and support is highly welcomed.

    Yours faithfully

I'll move this to the correct forum as it's not a question about Zimbra Desktop (which is where you posted).

This question has been answered many times in the forums and product documentation, you can download external email within each account (in the user preferences) or you can use something like "fetchmail" or "getmail" to collect the mail - search the forums for details on fetchmail (or read the fetchmail documentation) and how to use it. If you're intending on switching your mail server to ZCS then you could use a Split Domain (details in the wiki) to stage the move of user accounts to the new server.
    Regards

i did what you said , and i can fetch emails but i can't send through the external email smtp , and that is not what i'm exactly asking about , i just need the users from the login page of zimbra webmail to login with the external email services so zimbra acts as a webmail only i dont need the proxy , ldap ,, etc services

    is it clear ?

thanks for your replay and support

The answer is, you can't do that - ZCS is a complete Collaboration Server not just 'parts' you can run separately.
