Default Date of creation/modification lost during import on Zimbra

    Hi all,

i've noticed that all the resources (emails, files..) uploaded to zimbra looses the original date of creation/modification, this is a relevant issue since the users cannot identify anymore when the files was last modified.

Is there a workaround or an option to set in zimbra for not loosing this information?
    thanks!!

    kky

I have a similar problem. I convert a .PST file to folders of .EMLs using a commercial .PST to .EML converter. Outlook is not installed on the machine. The .EML files all have today's date on the file when displayed in Explorer. The message content has the correct received date in the message header. I tar and then GZIP the folder hierarchy using "7-zip". I import the .tgz into "Local Folders" on the Zimbra Desktop. No Zimbra server is involved. The folder hierarchy is preserved and displays correctly. The imported messages display with graphics and attachments. But the "Received Date" in the "Message View" is today's date, not the actual received date of the message.

    What can I do?

Thanks in advance for your help.
    John

I've tested only for emails and files and it seems that the interface is not important, i've tried with the web interface but also the webdav with CyberDuck. Loosing the timestamp on the import is a big deal when you work with large data sets. It would be nice to see this improvement

I've also just tested the mirroring synchronization from the filesystem to the zimbra webdav service with Cyberduck WebDAV https client. Since the date is not preserved it happens that the file uploaded has alway a newer date than the local file, if you are afterwords mirroring the directories it will lead to re download the same file (although it hasn't changed) since the date on the zimbra briefcase is newer.

This small BUG has a huge impact on a professional environment, not to consider the other issue that i have: Briefcase upload fails because path is too long

WebDAV standard does not provide a way for client to specify a file
creation date, i guess Synchronization must be done comparing MD5 checksum of file
