Question ZCS 4.05 - Do two bug fixes make a release?

Hi Zimbra

I must admit to being a little disappointed to find that there are only two bug fixes in the 4.05 release. And things have been really quiet in Bugzilla lately (at least for the ~30 or so bugs / features I'm tracking.

Major issues fixed for the 4.0.5 release:
6582 HTML formatted messages from ZWC now display correctly in Windows Mobile 5 Outlook view.
12765 Fixed the error that occurred when a invite was accepted by both the delegator and the delegatee.

So is this a small 4.05 release in preparation for the upcoming 4.5 release which is feature packed and totally revolutionary?

Now that would make a great Xmas 2006 present

Merry Christmas & Happy New Year to the Zimbra Crew

There are a lot more fixes in the 4.0.5 release but those you've mentioned are the ones for OSS version. The 4.5 major release will be available late January.

Don't be disappointed in that release, the Zimbra team are working like trojans to get these releases out.

Is there a separate release notes file for the network edition that you know of?

Yes, they're on the support portal for NE customers. You could always search bugzilla for the fixes.

Post Bug fixes for Zimbra 4.05 Network Edition (release notes)

Looks like the majority of fixes are for Network Edition features only, Zimbra mobile and Outlook Connector. With only two application to the FOSS edition.

From the Zimbra 4.05 Network Edition release notes.

Major issues fixed for the 4.0.5 release:
6582 HTML formatted messages from ZWC now display correctly in Windows Mobile 5 Outlook view.
7826 ZCO - A copy of email that is sent from POP/IMAP accounts using the ZCO is now saved in the Sent folder.
9131 Alarm settings for appointments work as follows: New items use the default alarm settings as configured in Outlook. Existing items uses the settings that were already set.
9352 ZCO -The “Open a shared calendar” link now works.
9708 ZCO - No longer need to close and reopen a mailbox to see older items in the shared folder.
10879 ZCO - A clear error message is displayed when a user is selected from an external GAL. You still cannot mount stores of users that are in an external GAL.
11306 ZCO - Accept/Decline now works when a calendar entry is updated by someone given manager permission in ZCO.
11432 ZCO - The option to mark an appointment as private on the user’s Calendar has been removed. When using ZCO, appointments cannot be marked as private.
11512, The ZCO logging tool has been enhanced and is more reliable.
11467
11873 ZCO - Calendar entries are no longer duplicated when the entry is moved from one day to another.
12083 Delegated mailboxes can now be re-mounted without restarting Outlook.
12096 ZCO - When a delegatee accepts a meeting request for a delegator, the appointment is saved to the delegator’s calendar, not the delegatee’s calendar.
12530 ZCO was modified to prevent external tags from being applied to messages and causing initial sync to fail.
12756 Fixed a sync error where too many emails at a time were being synced with the Treo 650, causing the sync to fail.
12765 Fixed the error that occurred when a invite was accepted by both the delegator and the delegatee.
12976 ZCO - In order to have folders appear in a delegatee account,
the folders must be created and then shared in the following order:
1. Create a folder you want to share
2. Sync the folder to the Zimbra server
3. Add the ACLs and then sync again

Yep... Basically a backport of some issues that were impacting a wide spread group of users.

If you want a peak of all the cool things coming in 4.5 take a look at RC1. 100's of bug fixes nearly 100 new features and enhancements. So the majority of the team are focused on closing out the remaining bugs to get a solid 4.5 release. Any tests/reviews of 4.5 RC1 with corresponding bug reports would be a huge help and get this out the door quicker.

Understood, so we'll try play'n break Zimbra 4.5 RC1 to make it a solid release.

Great stuff
