Default Distribution Lists - Don't send to sender

    Hi All,

I've searched and can't find anything on this. That tells me I might not be thinking about the best way to do this.

I have a group of several users who all need to see email messages to the group. This is for internal communication within the group. Here is a quick example:

    Distribution list: group@example.com
    Distribution list members:
    user1@example.com
    user2@example.com
    user3@external-domain.com

I had planned to setup a distribution list and that each member would send or reply to the distribution list address. However, the sender then receives a copy of what they sent (because they are a member of the distribution list).

Is there a way to filter this so that the sender doesn't receive a copy of their own message? In other words, if user1@example.com sends (or replies to) a message to group@example.com, is there are way to keep that message from being delivered to user1's inbox while being delivered to user2 and user3?

Maybe a distribution list is not the right tool for this job. Is there a better way to do this?
    Thanks!

My suggestion would be to setup a inbound mail filter for that person that said:

    Code:
If 'from' user = user@domain.com and 'to or carbon copy' user is distribution list then delete mail.

    Thanks lytledd!

I was stuck trying to figure it out at the server level and hadn't thought about doing it at the client level. This should work as long as the external-domain users have some sort of filtering that they can use.

I appreciate the help to look at this from a different angle!

A customer belonging to an important list has complained:
"I can't write to your list, I attach the mail I receive back at your convenience"
and this is the attached file:

"This is the mail system at host mx.xxxx.it.

I'm sorry to have to inform you that your message could not
be delivered to one or more recipients. It's attached below.

For further assistance, please send mail to postmaster.

If you do so, please include this problem report. You can
delete your own text from the attached returned message.

    The mail system

    <xxxxxx@xxxxxx.com>: host mail.xxxxxx.com[xx.xx.168.93] said: 550
Sender email address rejected (in reply to RCPT TO command)"

I argue that mail.xxxxxx.com[xx.xx.168.93] said: 550 as from address = to address.
These complains are a time-loss, to avoid this time-consuming activities it should be available a checkbox in distribution lists that disable send to sender.
