    Default FQDN at Administration login?

I seem to have installed the network edition of Zimbra 8 correctly onto a Centos 6 server. But at the administration page, the username field contains the fqdn of the server, i.e. zimbrahost.mydomain.com as the domain portion of the account. It would seem that the correct username should be admin@mydomain.com. Also, when I go to create a new account, the fqdn for the zimbra server is already populated, i.e. @zimbrahost.mydomain.com. Is there some config setting that needs to be changed?

That's because you didn't set the correct domain name when you were asked during the first install of ZCS.

Apart from uninstalling and reinstalling then setting the correct domain (that would remove any email and all the ZCS file) you can rename the domain to it's correct name, search the wiki or forums for "rename domain".

Thanks for the suggestion. Reinstalling corrected the domain being set wrong. It turns out the "Change Domain name..." question in the install script is where I should I have entered it the first time. The script assumes the domain name to be the fqdn of the server. Now I can receive emails thru the web client, but I can't send any or reply to any. I searched the forums but it didn't prove useful. Any suggestions for why I can't send emails?

You need to look in the log files to see what the errors are when you try to send email.

The mail logs say that the "Connection timed out". Every domain I try to send email to from the admin account says the same. Manual attempts thru telnet with the same address and port get the same result. I know my ISP blocks port 25, but I don't see how that would affect this. I am not using their servers for mail delivery. I have searched the doc/wiki for changing postfix to another port, but found nothing. Also, when I try to send mail to a new account with the same domain, i.e. admin@mydomain.com to xyz@mydomain.com, I get a "Connection refused" in the log. I am using the Zimbra webmail that I accessed by right-clicking on the account name to try to send that email. Our IP is static and does not appear on the blocked lists as far as I can tell. We do have a Sonicwall firewall, but that shouldn't affect outgoing traffic for this.

Are you saying that this Zimbra server is on a LAN? Did you login to the Zimbra server and try a telnet from there and if so what were the results? Have you disabled SElinux on this server? Are all the services running, what does a "zmcontrol status" show?
    Regards

Yes the Zimbra server is on a lan. Yes, the telnet I tried is from the Zimbra server. The results were the same as those found in the mail log, i.e. "Connection timed out". I have disabled SElinux in the /etc/selinux/config file by setting it to disabled. That command zmcontrol status reports that all services are running.

I'm also assuming that you've disabled the firewall on the ZCS server? Try restarting ZCS (or reboot the server) and see what errors there are in the log files, please also provide the output from the 'zmcontrol status' when you restarted ZCS.

Just for confirmation, go to the Split DNS wiki article and post the output of all the commands from the 'Verify....' section of that article.
    Regards

The Zimbra server firewall is off by the commands: service iptables stop and chkconfig iptables off. I have restarted the Zimbra server a number of times with the various attempts at fixing this issue.

There should really be no problem sending mail as the information you've provided is all OK. You do, however, show up on a spamhaus PBL which indicates that Verizon blocks outbound port 25. If there's no problem with your Sonicwall blocking outbound port 25 traffic then the Verizon block is the only thing left to check. As a test of this theory you could set your ZCS install to relay (use authentication) through another mail server (I believe Verizon provide them) and see if that solves the problem.
