Allow sending mail only from these addresses in ZCS 8.0

Hello.
I've noticed that the behavior of this feature has changed.
While in 7.2.0 I was able to set this to internal addresses in 8.0 it only allows external or non-existing internal addresses.
Is this the intended behavior?
We used this feature to send as another identity with smtp clients.
We are using the opensource edition
