ZCS 8.0 NE - Shared Address Book - Contact Group Access

Hello,

We are very pleased with the new features in ZCS 8.0. One issue that we are running into and would like to see if it is a bug or a work around could be done to make it work the way we feel it should.

We are trying to create a way for Staff members to have access to Address books by Grade Level, they should only have View Access, however we want them to be able to add contacts to their own Contact Groups.

In the first image you will see 1stGrade Address book the user has Manage access and is able to add the selected contacts to their own Contact group called Biology 1st.
In the second image you will see 2ndGrade Address book the user has View access and is unable to add the selected contacts to their own group.

I understand with Manage, the user could actually create a new Contact group in the Address book 1stGrade, and we don't want that to happen. So it brings us to the 2ndGrade address book, where the user should still have access to add the contacts to their own Contact Groups, but grey out Add New Contact Group .. or better yet, only allow the new contact group in their own address books.

The Manager option in the UI assigns both Edit and Add right. I think what you are asking for is a more fine grained set of sharing options in the UI, which is not currently available. On the server side the support for this is available though - The server can enforce Edit and Add rights independently on a folder.

What we want is the ability for anyone that has View permissions to be able to add them to their own contact group. I understand that with Manager permissions, they could create a new contact group inside the shared address list, however it also shows any Personal contact groups in that list. When they have View permissions, it grey's out the use of contact group entirely. It would be nice if we could at least allow them to add to their own contact group, or the option to create a new contact group, but the group would be able to be specified where it goes (that they have permission).

This would solve a huge issue with our users and being able to pull contacts from shared address books to create their own contact groups.

Instead of using the right click "New Contact Group", use the drop down menu in the upper left-hand corner. Choose New Contact Group. Then select from "Personal and Shared Contacts" to select the addresses.

When you have say 1000 email addresses, but need 50 of them, you are left to search and search for them while consuming quite a bit of time because Personal and Shared Contacts are all grouped into one. If that drop down was able to select different personal and/or different shared address books, it would simplify the process of finding what is needed.

Many of our users really like the new feel and would appreciate the small feature request. If possible, could someone give me some guidance on the jetty folder, where we might be able to ungray it out ourselves?
