I have ZCS OSE 7.2.1 Debian 5 64x. May upgrade to ZCS OSE 8?
I have just gone through the release notes but still having some problem. Testing at the moment.
Reading the release note again, hope this time, I solve the problem.
Thanks, I'll try to update.
lol looks like someone didnt really read your initial request :)))
no sorry you cannot do that because debian is sadly not really supported.
i had to go to ubuntu too and i hate it - but only way if you wanna keep and atp system.
install a parallel system (i assue u use virtualisation) on ubuntu, dont use 8.0, use the same version as you got for debian.
use the ident config.
copy data folder
testrun the new machine, if everything is fine switch it as prod system
another night upgrade to 8.0
cant see another solution
or wait if they bring a debian release but i doudbt it will happen soon if ever
Unfortunately in addition to the mail server many important services, so the change of the system is not possible. I tend to use virtualization.
you really should not run anything but zimbra in one logical unit
so i strongly recommend using kvm or vmware for virtualisation
make your own zimbra guest
make your own guest for whatever else or even more than one
you can run all of em on the same phsyical host
that way youre also independent of hardwarechanges but you will loose a bit of performance, tweaked right not much
jsut a hint if you use kvm dont use ext4 as data partitions for your virtual disks , use ext3 just saying :))
you may have more instances to watch and more overhead (more filewalls and so on) but it does absolutly pay off
for example you can setup a kvm hypervisor within 20 minutes, copy over virtual machines in - depending on networksspeed - few hours - hardwarechange done
