Default SMIME support in webclient not working

    Hi folks

Need some help on something. I had installed recently an email certificate but I can use it with zimbra webclient as it gives me the following error:

"Secure email is not yet supported in this browser on this OS. Please try Firefox instead"

I am running LInux Gentoo and tried in Chromium and also in Firefox! (java is enabled and I'm running latest version)

How could I get this working? Please help me.

    Additional details below.

    method: SecureEmail._signMessage
    msg: unsupported-browser
    code: mail.SEND_FAILURE

I would have thought the error message was self explanatory? There is also no information about the Zimbra versions & Release from the o/p nor from you and you'd be far better giving exact details of your problem other than a 'me too' post.
    Regards

    Hello Bill,

sorry that I did not understand the self explanatory message.
    Here some more details:

Our zimbra version is NE 8.0.4 on Centos 6.4 Final.
There is NO problem with s/mime if we use windows clients ( XP to 8.0 ) and Firefox 22.0 or IE.

Some of our users need to work with linux clients ( For Example archlinux 64bit, Firefox 22.0 or Chromium Version 28.0.1500.52 (207119) with IcedTea 1.4 or Sun Java Plug-in (1.7.0_25 Java plug-in for NPAPI-based browsers).
All these Linux based solutions do not work, mostly giving the error messages as described by cparfon:

"Secure email is not yet supported in this browser on this OS. Please try Firefox instead"

This irritating because we do use Firefox...

Where is the problem? Is it the OS or is it the Java Library or is it the S/Mime Plugin itself.
All I know is, that Zarafa seems to have a working plugin ( linux and windows ) for s/mime (Zarafa WebAccess - S/MIME plugin | www.zarafa.com).

Is there hope for a (using Firefox linux client) working Plugin?

    Regards
    Guenther

    Hi there,

I've got a similar problem with ZCS 8.04 and Firefox22 under OS X. The applet will not be startet and I'm getting the following error:

    method: SecureEmail._showMessage
msg: Leider ist ein Fehler im Zusammenhang mit sicherer Mail aufgetreten. Möglicherweise funktioniert es in einem anderen Browser ordnungsgemäß.
    code: com_zimbra_smime

    Any suggestions?

    Best regards

    Stephan
