    Question changing the Zimbra URL

    Hi guys,

We would like to change the URI Zimbra uses for the webmail client.

    Those would be

    • example.com/zimbra/foo
    • example.com/service/bar

Is there a way to have a functioning zimbra and have URIs that look like the following?

    • example.com/webmail/zimbra/foo
    • example.com/webmail/service/bar

If so, how would you recommend we do this? Pointers to documentation are also welcome

Has no one done this? Any advice would be a plus!

You can rebuild the zimbra web app from source to use another name.
    Or, you could use mod_proxy.

    Hi kruon,

The reason why we did not want to use mod_proxy or an equivalent is that we were worried that zimbra might have hard coded references in it's code. Have you ever done this before?

It probably has, but mod_proxy shouldn't break those.
    Not with zimbra.

Just enable log with high enough level on your apache proxy machine and it should reveal errors while you're logging in/using the mail.
Other possible way to debug is to use fiddler on your client machine.

If you're worried about using the mod_proxy, you can build the source with any app name you like, but I believe that's a lot of work.
I'd try it first with the proxy.

Thanks a lot for your help kruon. We'll try and implement this in our test environment and see how it goes.
