Wink Z7 to Z8 on Ubuntu 12.04LTS from Ubuntu 10.04LTS

    Hello,

I apolagize in advance if this is miscategorized or already covered.

I am currently running Z7 with the latest updates on Ubuntu 10.04LTS which is now depricated. I am looking to upgrade to 12.04, obviously I do not want to disrupt my current installation (besides obvious downtime). It supports a small business that can afford 24 hours or so of downtime (although I hope this is avoidable). The instalation is contained on one dell poweredge 1850.

What steps should be performed? I have noted the Ubuntu directions, but are there any special proccesses that must occur within zimbra before I perform the upgrade? (There are seperate released for the two versions of ubuntu, so is it even possible?) Thank you.

    Dustin

You really do not want to install ZCS 8 in a production environment - do not do this. This is beta software and is currently only for testing not for production.

Thanks for the reply, I am actually just looking to the future (Hopefully October) when the stable version is released. My main question was about upgrading Ubuntu 10.04 LTS to 12.04 LTS with zimbra 7.2 installed. What is involved? Is it possible? I do not plan on upgrading to Z8 until I have successfully upgraded from 10.04 to 12.04 (and when Z8 is officially realeased).

In that case you should go to the wiki and read any of the articles on moving ZCS from one server to another. If you're moving from 32bit to 64bit architecture then there's a Zimbra certified wiki article on the procedure for doing that
