    Default Zimbra Recovery

    Hello,
I recently experienced failure of my Zimbra Server. I have since recovered the data from the original server and I am now attempting to restore it by following the procedures stipulated on the Zimbra Backup and Restore Wiki page:
Backing up and restoring Zimbra (Open Source Version) - Zimbra :: Wiki

I copy the old Zimbra folder to /opt/zimbra and then attempt to do an 'upgrade' using the same version that was in the original installation.
However, each time I run the installation I get an error that seems to be related to LDAP.

ERROR: service.FAILURE (system failure: ZimbraLdapContext) (cause: javax.naming.
    CommunicationException localhost:389)
ERROR: service.FAILURE (system failure: ZimbraLdapContext) (cause: javax.naming.
    CommunicationException localhost:389)
    Setting defaults...ERROR: service.FAILURE (system failure: ZimbraLdapContext) (c
    ause: javax.naming.CommunicationException localhost:389)

Starting ldap...failed with exit code: 256.

When I attempt to start LDAP manually, I get the following error:
ldap_url and ldap_master_url cannot be the same on an ldap replica

Has anyone ever experienced this issue?

The error shows that you have a master-slave ldap setup, and your slave (replica) server's settings are incorrect.
Say if your master is 'master.example.com' and slave is 'slave.example.com', on your slave your 'ldap_url' would be 'slave.example.com', while ldap_master_url would be 'master.example.com'. In this case it says that both, the ldap_url and ldap_master_url is the same.

Take a look at the multi-server installation guides and this wiki page for more info.

If you don't have a multi-server installation (as mentioned in the post above) then take a look at some of these threads
