HELP!!! our Admin is gone!!

hi there, total newbie here. We are a small company with 5 or so people spread out over the country. My IT guy/consultant was my brother-in-law who was great but passed away unexpectedly a couple of weeks ago. That leaves me without the account/logins/passwords/ or contact numbers at Zimbra or the place he has our email, portal, database and websites on, or where he got our security certificates. In fact, the certificate for our email expired, so I guess the encryption needed to be hiPAA compliant is off for a while? I need to figure out how to determine where everything is and then I can work on getting ownership of my own stuff, not to mention pay the bills so we can keep the lights on.

Well, you will definitely need to find the passwords for access to the server (SSH passwords and/or keys).

Sorry to hear for your loss and the predicument it's left you in.

First step is to find out where and how it's hosted. If it's with a hosting company they may be able to assist you in getting the administrative passwords reset. If he was hosting it himself somewhere you'll probably have to find someone in the area to access the system and get the passwords reset. If you're running Network Edition (paid) Zimbra support can help once you get root (administrative) access to the server.

If you paid bills directly check for contact information there. If your brother was paying the bills his family may be able to provide the information. If none of that helps you can do a whois search at the link below and see whether there's any useful contact information in the domain registration.
