Default What backup(s) are suitable for migrating?

Hi there, I am in the next few weeks going to be migrating an old version of zimbra NE to the latest version.

I run the backup: /opt/zimbra/bin/zmbackup -f -a all -z on a regular basis, is this enough to be able to restore if there was ever a problem with the upgrade, or could something else be ran?

Also, I understand(I think) that it makes no difference if i run the backup while zimbra is running, or if stopped, but the only benefit of it being stopped is that emails will not arrive and users will not be able to send whilst stopped.

    Any comments please?

The above backup normally takes approximately 8 hours to run from start to finish.

Is it likely that you're going from a 32bit to a 64bit server? If that's the case the read the wiki article on moving from 32bit to 64bit servers.

Hi Phoenix, yes thats correct, I'm performing the 32>64 bit migration. I'm just wondering if there are any other steps I should take for the backing up, and if it needs to be stopped to do so.

    Thanks

The wiki article covers all the steps you need to move your installation to a new server, take a look at that and see if it raises any questions.
