Default Internet Explorer Webmail client - mouse periodically freezes

I just updated from 7.1.2 to 7.2.0 ZCS (free version) a few weeks ago.

Since then, I have had several clients complain that their mouse will freeze, but the keyboard still works. When the first couple of users started to complain, I didn't think too much of it because they were using older Windows XP machines.

Then, I have sequentially had more and more users complaining about this.

I've just told them to click alt-tab, switch to another program, and click alt-tab and switch back to Internet Explorer.

    Is anyone else seeing thing?

At first, I thought it was because I enabled the drag and drop attachments, so I turned it on server wide, and in my default class of service.

Today, however, I had one client who complained about it and I took at look at their webmail and the little area where the drag and drop dialog exists was not there, so it was turned off for that user for sure.

I've had quite a few issue tickets come in with the exact same symptoms running IE. Pretty much anymore the "canned" response is about IE not handling the javascript correctly or something along those lines, and to try Chrome or Firefox which so far has solved the issues for those users.

Yeah.. the solution I've found so far is use a different browser

(Okay, that's a bad joke.. but truthfully that's really still our only answer here at work)

A patch has been released that supposedly addresses this issue with IE. I've yet to apply it to my system, as we've since switched most of our users over to Firefox and haven't gotten any complaints, but it should do the trick for those stuck using IE.

I upgraded my server to the latest version of 7.2.1 on Monday night and this was supposed to be fixed per bugzilla report #73712.

Bug 73712 – Cursor becomes unresponsive to clicks of buttons while composing

However, it is not fixed. Customers are still complaining.
They are using both Windows XP with all the latest Windows updates and Internet Explorer 8, and Windows 7 Professsional with the latest updates and Internet Explorer 9.
