    Question Enabling S/MIME

    Hello all,

Have any of you been able to successfully get S/MIME to work ? Am running Release 7.2.0_GA_2669.RHEL5_64_20120410001942 CentOS5_64 NETWORK edition and have enabled, from the Admin interface, the S/MIME feature. When I log back into my Ajax web client session I do see the new Zimlet under preferences.

I thought then it could be that I do not have a personal certificate installed yet so requested a free one from Comodo, using Firefox, which was successfully imported. I logged back out and back in again to the Ajax client and still nothing shows. This was all performed from Firefox under Linux.

I have performed the same actions using Firefox in Windows and got exactly the same result. That was also using a completely different 7.2 installation.

    Any ideas please ??

Have tried flushing the Zimbra cache and performing a full server restart to no avail

You need to get an updated Zimbra license in 7.2-format direct from Zimbra to use S/MIME.

Don't shoot me please, but the requirement "For existing customers under a current support agreement upgrading to Zimbra 7.2 that wish to use the new S/MIME features, please contact sales to have a new license file issued." is listed on Page 2 of the Release Notes.

Hope that helps, and all the best, :-)

Thanks Mark The fact that a new option has been added to the license key does indicate the potential for it being made a purchasable option though.

All the more reason to get the license file sooner rather than later! ;-)

FWIW, our and other clients' new S/MIME-enabled license files came with expiration dates well into the future.

Looking forward to trying S/MIME in Zimbra when we deploy 7.2.0 over the next few weeks, but I have to tell you that deploying GPGMail for my Mac Mail client was so easy I am spoiled -- especially after doing some commercial PGP deployments. Will be interesting to see how easy the certificate management process is in ZCS 7.2.0...

    Have a great weekend,
    Mark
