    Exclamation Urgent help needed / switched IP and network class and hostname?

    Hi,

    again I need some extra help from you, very urgent, very urgent.

    Because of the need for more IPs in the DMZ we changed our DMZ IP subnet (from /29 to /28 in a completely new IP subnet).
    I read a lot regarding changing the IP of the server which shouldn't be a problem at all.

    In preparation of changing the IP I also changed the DNS stuff (MX entries and so on).
    What I realised now is that I just didn't even change the IPs in DNS for the MX records.
    I also changed the DNS domain name. Think this isn't too good.

    Now I need your help.

    Zimbra is set up to work with domain-notgood.de and this has to be changed after this to domain-verygood.de.
    I asked about switching the domains right here: Switching main domain and domain alias

    But one by one.
    The DNS MX setup was that the MX pointed to: mail.domain-notgood.de with the old IP address.
    I changed the IP and the domain name so that the MX record now points to the new IP and to mail.domain-verygood.de.

    After changing /etc/network/interfaces on Ubuntu 10.04 x64 and editing /etc/hosts and /etc/resolv.conf so it fits the new circumstances I restartet the server without automatically starting zimbra and checked that everything works okay. At least the networking stuff.

    Then I reinstalled zimbra with ./install.sh and thought this was a good idea!?

    Now I can't do anything anymore, There is no service on port 80, no service on port 7071. Some services are running, a netstat shows up as following:

    Code:

    Exclamation

    What just came to my thoughts is that the hostname has not been changed. The hostname was before the change "mail.domaingood.de".
    The only thing which was changed was the public dns settings.

    Really need your help here!

    Default check hostname pointing

    Check if new ip is pointed in /etc/hosts file against domain name..

    Indeed it is:

    Code:
    root@mail:~#
    root@mail:~#
    root@mail:~# cat /etc/hosts
    127.0.0.1       localhost.domain-good.de         localhost
    1.2.3.4          mail.domain-good.de              mail

    # The following lines are desirable for IPv6 capable hosts
    ::1     localhost ip6-localhost ip6-loopback
    fe00::0 ip6-localnet
    ff00::0 ip6-mcastprefix
    ff02::1 ip6-allnodes
    ff02::2 ip6-allrouters
    root@mail:~#
    root@mail:~#
    root@mail:~#

    All MX entries are correct too. Triple checked and ok.

    1.2.3.4 is your zimbra server's new ip ?

    Your zimbra server is running on name mail.domain-verygood.de & host entry is pointing on mail.domain-good.de..

    Correct this & check..

    Let's close this one.
    I reverted back to the backup because it seems impossible to do it this this way.

    And of course my ip address is 1.2.3.4 - don't you have such cool addresses? ;-) Am I not allowed to cipher my IP addresses and domains?
    And sorry for the confusion with the domain names, with domain-verygood.de and domain-good.de I mean exactly the same domains which nobody could know. That is my fault and I have to pay more attention to that in future.

    I will open a new thread to clarify my questions. This wouldn't fit in this thread, excuse me mods!
