I just updated my own stand alone server from 7.1.2 to 7.2.0.

    I didn't have any problem.

I did see a few errors in the log, but it did not seem to affect anything.

I had to disable the social and linkedin zimlets that somehow got enabled during the install, but that's all.
    Release 7.2.4_GA_2900.UBUNTU10_64 UBUNTU10_64 FOSS edition.

Glad to hear no issues so far.

We'll likely still wait another few weeks before upgrading -- just in case.

FWIW, our speculation is that 7.2 is "really" 7.1.xx; there's no major new functionality other than S/MIME going GA. But, as a major point release, it does allow Zimbra to mark a LOT of older distros as deprecated so that the developers won't have to QA/supply binaries for those older distros when Zimbra 8 is released.

    All the best,
    Mark

While them deprecating Cent 5 disrupts my plans a bit it's not huge...i'm converting to ubuntu as it is(i despise cent 6) so i'll have to move earlier than planed..since i'm also migrating to vmware it's not a huge thing to go ahead and migrate to a virtual machine running ubuntu and zimbra oss..

    Question

I was upgrade ZCS 7.1.4 to 7.2.0 and I have one question.

On all previous versions of zimbra in administrator control panel i can right click on any user account (mailbox) and have menu with option "view mail" from this mailbox. In 7.2.0 version I can't see this option. For this action, first I select "edit" option by clicking on mailbox, and next in editing window I can select menu "view mail" from this account. How can I enable option "view mail" on simple right click in accounts list?

I couldn't upgrade from 7.1.1 to 7.2. To do the upgrade I had to upgrade to 7.1.3 first, then upgrade again to 7.2

Really dissapointed with the fact that the posix and samba extension doesn't work anymore. Would have been nice if they mentioned that the posix and samba extensions actually breaks, instead of just saying that they are not supported anymore.

Alot of people are actually relying on those extensions to have a centrallized user management.

They have never been officially supported by Zimbra, they are a Community supported feature - someone from the Community needs to step-up and maintain them.

But you must have known that alot of people actually rely on it?
    You know, your customers...

I mean after several people have reported that it doesn't work, you didn't warn others that it would break if Zimbra was upgraded.

It was provided by Zimbra for the Community as nobody else provided it, the alternative would have been to leave it to each user to solve the problem on their own - would you rather that happened? There are other alternatives around for providing this functionality.

You're mistaken, they are not 'my customers' - I am just a person that posts on these forums.

Warn them how, exactly? Has every user of this feature had a problem? I don't know the answer to that question but obviously it's a problem for some people. As I said, it's a Community supported feature and always has been.

It might seem a little odd to quote my own post, like sitting in the corner talking to myself but here's the horror story :

Bug 73440: ZCO not automatically sync'ing - have to manually sync

How this stuff makes it past QA is beyond me. It's like those people who post "How Tos" who've obviously never tried to use their own instructions. Very glad I've not updated to 7.2 now ! I'll probably update ~2 weeks after the patch for this is released.
