I just updated my own stand alone server from 7.1.2 to 7.2.0.
I didn't have any problem.
I did see a few errors in the log, but it did not seem to affect anything.
I had to disable the social and linkedin zimlets that somehow got enabled during the install, but that's all.
Glad to hear no issues so far.
We'll likely still wait another few weeks before upgrading -- just in case.
FWIW, our speculation is that 7.2 is "really" 7.1.xx; there's no major new functionality other than S/MIME going GA. But, as a major point release, it does allow Zimbra to mark a LOT of older distros as deprecated so that the developers won't have to QA/supply binaries for those older distros when Zimbra 8 is released.

While them deprecating Cent 5 disrupts my plans a bit it's not huge...i'm converting to ubuntu as it is(i despise cent 6) so i'll have to move earlier than planed..since i'm also migrating to vmware it's not a huge thing to go ahead and migrate to a virtual machine running ubuntu and zimbra oss..:)Quote:

I couldn't upgrade from 7.1.1 to 7.2. To do the upgrade I had to upgrade to 7.1.3 first, then upgrade again to 7.2
Really dissapointed with the fact that the posix and samba extension doesn't work anymore. Would have been nice if they mentioned that the posix and samba extensions actually breaks, instead of just saying that they are not supported anymore.
Alot of people are actually relying on those extensions to have a centrallized user management.
They have never been officially supported by Zimbra, they are a Community supported feature - someone from the Community needs to step-up and maintain them.Quote:

It was provided by Zimbra for the Community as nobody else provided it, the alternative would have been to leave it to each user to solve the problem on their own - would you rather that happened? There are other alternatives around for providing this functionality.Quote:

How this stuff makes it past QA is beyond me. It's like those people who post "How Tos" who've obviously never tried to use their own instructions. Very glad I've not updated to 7.2 now ! I'll probably update ~2 weeks after the patch for this is released.
