Default Postfix not starting, but status says ok!

Hi.
This morning I rebooted my zimbra machine, and postfix is not starting.
zmcontrol status says it's started, but no master process running!

I manually ran
Code:
/opt/zimbra/bin/postfix -c /opt/zimbra/postfix/conf/ start
and now I can send mails, but what's wrong?
no message in log, no output from zmmtactl start except the rewriting config files...

what can it be?
thanks

Sounds to me like the process died and left the old PID laying around. Have you checked back through zimbra.log to the last email received before you started it ?

checked now, there's no evidence in the logs.
I found the stale pid (master.lock or something like that) while doing the tests, removed them but won't start anyway.

thanks
