Education: Calendar based on periods rather than time

Hello,

I am trying to find a collaboration system that can do room reservation based on periods rather than specific times. I need this for specific rooms like computer labs or computer carts. These would not need to be reserved using time based schedules.

I tried searching through support, but could not find any mention of this.

Zimbra's calendar only works based on time.

However, it wouldn't be too difficult to create a front-end using the API and PHP or some other programming language to map times into periods, and present your own web page for reservations.
