It has been a few weeks this this bug was reported/entered and resolved. However no resolution to the problem was given, just that it was resolved. Is there a way to see what the resolution was, or somewhere a patch available.

Patches are only issued in exception circumstances so the answer to that part of your question would be, no. Please note that the fix was ver ZCS version 8.x and that's not been released yet nor a time scale given for it's release. Do also note that a 'fix' needs to go through QA before being confirmed as OK for release.

One of our clients is seeing this issue as-well to the point that when they view their shared address books the contacts show up under "All" but under the A-Z tabs they see nothing at all. The GAL does not even know about those contacts! Have raised support case #84255 against it
