Multiple copies of emails

One user suddenly is getting many copies of his email. His in box has in excess of 3000 items in it.
Any thoughts

Which version/release? Have you looked at the headers of the messages? Are they coming from the same source? Are they really from another source? I've not heard of that type of problem, have you searched bugzilla for anything similar.
