Default Zimbra Startup Problem

I am getting:
Starting antivirus failed
zmmtaconfig already running
Amavisd could not be started
Freshclamd started...Done
Starting clamd...Failed

The only change I have done in last few days is trying to disable logger using:
$ zmprov ms fill_in_your_hostname -zimbraServiceEnabled logger
and edit /etc/logrotate.d/zimbra and comment out all logger related start / reload commands

Also, I observe that despite doing shutdown I still find zimbra processes running. Please help as this is production machine and I could get it fixed in last 24 hours

It would be awesome if someone can please help on this issue. We are really stuck here and are losing business. I don't want to perform any step which might harm the system and seek your expert advise before proceeding. Really appreciate your kid help.

Many Thanks

Shutdown Zimbra, kill any remaining processes and then restart Zimbra. Look in the log files (or tail the log while you're watching zimbra start) and see what errors you get.

Thanks Bill. I followed the suggestion, please find the interesting tailed log of clamd, freshmclamd and zmmtaconfig. On startup I got zmmtaconfig, amavisd, already running and freshclamd failed to start. freshclamd was unable to connect on port 3310.

It would be great if you can please suggest.

Thanks.
Abhishek

Search the forums for the error message you see in the log files.

Hi Bill,

I'm already doing that, but very confused as to what could be the remedy. On doing zmcontrol status I can see all the services running including antivirus. Is the system running fine?

Thanks.
Abhishek

Hello,
I am still unable to fix the problem. We are unable to send/receive mails which is hurting our organization badly I have stopped zimbra, killed ay process using pkill -u zimbra, restarted the servers but no luck. Somehow, antivirus fails because zmmtacofing, amavisd are already running and clamd fails to astart. However on doing zmcontrol status all the services are shown as Running. We are unable to do mail exchange though. I've already shared the logs above. It woud be great help if you can please help. I'm more than willing to provide any more information you need.

Thanks.

Abhishek
